The Legion VII Gemina was located in Legio (León) near of Medulas, the most great gold mines in Roman Spain. VII Gemina was founded in first century A.D by Galba emperor and was established in Leon since 74 A.D until Fourth Century A. D.
At the present time the roman walls of legionary fortress (Third Century A.D) around the old town. Besides the tourist can visits the roman door remains Porta Principalis Sinistris (Plaza de San Marcelo), a roman baths and a military amphitheater (Calle Cascalería).
The City Museum (Plaza Santo Domingo, 8) exhibits ancient items like legionary armours, weapons or military tombstones. A curious piece is a dog sluth printed on a brick. The legionary pet maybe?
